Positive Arsenal injury update despite Arteta naming 2 doubts

Mikel Arteta believes Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori are Arsenal’s only injury doubts following Sunday’s match against Wigan, but White himself has given a positive update.

Arsenal suffered a couple of injury scares on Sunday, with Riccardo Calafiori pulling out of the FA Cup fourth round tie against Wigan Athletic at the last minute, and Ben White coming off with an apparent issue in the second half.

Mikel Arteta certainly seemed to believe both may have sustained injuries, telling the media: “[Riccardo Calafiori] and Ben [White] are the only doubts. We have to wait and see in the next 48 hours how things develop.”

But White himself seemed more optimistic in a post on Instagram after the game.

“Next round, no injuries,” White wrote, seemingly confirming that he’s alright.

The right-back wasn’t limping after the game, and he watched the remainder of the match from the dugout after coming off. If a player really is injured, they tend to go down the tunnel for treatment rather than continuing to sit on the bench.

As for Calafiori, there’s much less information available in his case. Given he dropped out before the match even began, there’s no footage of the injury, nor an update from his end.

It won’t be long until further updates do arrive, with Arsenal playing against Wolves on Wednesday.

Arteta will have a pre-game press conference, training photos will be shared online, and if neither of those sources provides an update then Wednesday’s team news will.
