Maryland wrestling was taken down by No. 2 Ohio State Sunday, 29-16, but a few Terps recorded some impressive victories — including No. 17 Branson John’s upset victory.
John took down No. 10 Luke Geog in the 197-pound weight division, securing a pin at the 3:40 juncture for his first top-10 win of his career. Carter Young also defeated Brogan Fielding 14-3 at 149 pounds, earning his first-ever Big Ten extra-point win.
Two Maryland wrestlers also recorded their first win in a Terp uniform. Sophomore Mekhi Neal had a takedown of Daxton Chase with 40 seconds left to complete a 4-1 victory at 157 pounds. At 174 pounds, freshman Seth Digby routed TJ Shierl, 6-1.
