There's some less-than-stellar news for most of the boys basketball teams competing against a national schedule with eyes on high-level cross-country postseason tournaments: Montverde Academy (Fla.) has found its groove.
Since starting the season 0-3, the Eagles have gone 17-2. This month, they have taken down No. 1 SPIRE Academy (Geneva, Ohio) and then-No. 16 Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, N.H.), reestablishing themselves as a contender in the Super 25 national rankings. Montverde is back in, a spot ahead of Archbishop Stepinac (White Plains, N.Y), a team that lost to Montverde earlier in the season.
In the top 10, Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) moved up a spot after a successful start to the playoffs, and Link Academy (Branson, Mo.) jumped up two following a win over then-No. 11 CIA-Bella Vista (Phoenix). Fellow Arizona powers Millennium (Goodyear, Ariz.) and Sunnyslope (Phoenix) faced off for the second time this season, and the No. 14 Tigers made up for the earlier loss to the No. 7 Vikings.
