Kentucky basketball suffered a tough loss on Saturday at Florida. While the Wildcats were far from expected to win (according to oddsmakers), they made it a game midway through the second half, but a late run by the Gators and missed opportunities by Kentucky put the stamp on the road loss.
Mark Pope’s team returns to Lexington for a home matchup against the unranked Georgia Bulldogs, where they’ll most likely also fall out of the Top-25 rankings after being in that grouping for just one week.
However, EvanMiya is still holding Kentucky at No. 25 in their rankings while Haslametrics has the Wildcats at No. 27, and DRatings has them at No. 28. So, maybe there’s a chance Kentucky holds its ground.
UK is a considerable favorite over Georgia on Tuesday, with ESPN’s Basketball Power Index giving them a 76.8% chance to win.
For the women’s team, they picked two wins last week against Texas A&M and Ole Miss. They won the two games by a combined 37 points and will have several days off before hitting the road to Nashville for a road game against Vanderbilt this coming Sunday.
The Wildcats suffered a 1-point defeat at home to the Commodores earlier this month, so revenge will certainly be on their mind.
After dropping back-to-back games a week ago, Kentucky fell out of the Top-25 rankings, but its recent surge could very well send it back up the ranks. We’ll find out soon enough.
