Cain Velasquez may be walking free from jail today, Feb. 15th 2026, according to a new post on his social media account.
“After my release on February 15th, I’m exploring the idea of hosting a one-day Holotropic Breathing Seminar in the San Jose area,” Velasquez posted on his Instagram account. “Breathwork has been a powerful tool for me – physically, mentally, and spiritually – and I’d like to share it with others in a focused, intentional setting.”
Velasquez, who is a two-time UFC heavyweight champion, was arrested for engaging in a high speed car chase where he fired a gun multiple times into a car containing Harry Goularte Jr., a man Velasquez accused of molesting his son. Goularte was not shot, but his step-father was. That went down on Feb. 28th, 2022, and Velasquez has been dealing with the legal ramifications since.
Facing a dozen charges including attempted murder, Velasquez could have been sentenced to life in prison. But after a drawn out process, Cain reached an agreement with prosecutors that saw him receive 5 years in prison with four years of supervised parole. His potential release date at the time was listed as March 2026.
It seems like that timeline has been moved up a bit, and Velasquez is walking out of prison today. That’s a big win for Cain and his lawyers, considering how it initially looked like he’d be spending the rest of his life behind bars for his highway shooting spree.
As for Harry Goularte Jr., his trial for one felony charge of lewd acts with a minor under 14 years old is finally set to start on March 9th, 2026. A civil suit launched by Velasquez’s family is also in motion.
